I love it. Always have, always will. That thing called Eurovision.
Don’t know what I’m talking about? It’s the Eurovision Song contest final this weekend. I think it should be compulsory viewing for anyone who wants to know a bit more about Europe. You either love or hate it. Yes it’s that extreme! To me it’s mad and hilarious and crazy and touching and I’ll laugh and cry and shout and sing and by the end I’ll be exhausted. I’ve been watching it all my life it feels. Maybe missed the odd year but not many.
It’s the first semi finals tonight. I can’t wait, but only just realised I was going to buy a new tv for the finals on saturday. I seem to have forgotten about the semis. Oops! Might have to rush out and get one before 8pm!
I do hope that you can catch it outside europe via internet.
(sorry I’ve not put a link in as it’s not working well and I don’t know the ‘rules’ yet of linking to official websites.. I’m sure you’ll let me know. One you can find on eurovision.tv and the other is on bbc webpages under eurovision.)
do you?
love or hate eurovision?
I won’t apologise if I post more about eurovision in a few days..
Well, now you’ve made me want to watch it…
That’s good. It was worth posting this rather rushed piece then. If you’re a first timer you might be best waiting for the finals.. hmm.. or even if you watch and don’t like it tonight still watch the finals.. it’s a love/hate thing. I think Graham Norton’s only commenting on the final and that’s a must to listen to.
I’ve never been too interested, but we do have Englebert Humperdinck this year… 🙂
Yes I hope he sounds as good as the recording as I really like that.
I have a love-hate relationship with it!! I can remember watching it as a little girl, tucked on the sofa between my Mum and Dad, and being allowed to watch the voting to the bitter end! So you could say it’s been a lifelong relationship for me. I am watching the semi finals as we speak and it’s really bizarre this year. Will I watch the final? Probably. I’ve had the odd Eurovision party in my time, mostly at college. My husband quite enjoys it too so we’ll probably open some wine, chill and enjoy. It’s just the voting… it’s sooo boring! XX I think you can link to official sites in any which way you want, that’s what they’re there for. It’s YouTube that you have to enjoy with some caution…. 🙂
Thanks for linking advice Nicky. Yes this semi final’s all I would expect.. Last year the voting seemed shorter somehow. I like to have a selection of foods for the final. No party planned this year. I just wanted to post something a lot lighter.
Light’s good! I’m all for a happy mix up. don’t know if I’ll be able to twitter on Sat but will try for Thursday. Rock on Eurovision!
Never seen it. but then I’m not much of a tv watcher. Movies, yes. TV no.
It is just brilliant. Showing all that is wonderful and bad about Europe in one go. Films? Yes I love films too!
Mr A is not so keen but I may manage to snatch a bit of a viewing. I did go off it over the last few years with all this political voting though. Hope the Enge can put an end to that.
OOh! I think the tactical voting makes it even more fun these days!!! Surely we don’t want to host it. Not the year after olympics though I’m sure we’ve got a venue or two suitable.
