Animal print bunting

Last weekend, I had a wonderful time using silk paints on some spare material I had (as you do).  Stupidly I forgot to take a picture of the material post painting and pre cut, sorry about that.

People often ask where and when creativity comes and what inspires it.  I’ve no idea really though here’s the story of my animal print bunting design (for when it becomes famous;)

There I was minding my own business.. (a rare occurrence..) and this idea appeared, let’s use animal print bunting for someone’s leaving do who loves animal print.  Thinking back, I have no idea who’s idea it was, there were two of us chatting about what we could do for a leaving event so it could have been either of us,  I remember it as my idea, but I’ll need to check as my brain’s been mush with yet another cold.  The minute the idea arrived I knew I’d be making the bunting as my contribution.  I needed something fun and creative to do over the weekend.  What I didn’t know is that the universe and my own stubbornness (another rare occurrence.. hmm..) would contrive to me painting the fabric too.

I get ideas all the time, I don’t always have the time and materials to produce them.  This time because the market stall was late in opening on Saturday and I wouldn’t wait 30 mins for him to set up.. (I wanted to get home to watch the Olympics) If I was going to make the animal print bunting over the weekend I also had to create my own animal print fabric later that day which I did (as you do) while watching some amazing olympics.

From the comments I vaguely heard and interest from people (I couldn’t really hear them as I’m still full of cold) they seemed to like the final product (someone asked where I found the fabric!) and I had a great time which is all that matters to me.  If I’m enjoying myself when creating something often others will like it.

That’s the second time I’ve painted fabric for home made bunting and the second time the person I made it for wanted to keep it.  High praise indeed!

When it comes to designing and painting fabric little phases me and I have a wonderful time.  There are other parts of my life I’d like to feel like that about.

What do you create that doesn’t phase you and what would you like to be better at?
