Millie’s Mother’s Memories #AtoZchallenge

In ‘Bags’ a Novel by me,  the memories of Millie’s mother are kept alive and brought back for the family through a selection of her belongings found in the attic after she dies.

Memories are made of events that happen to us, things we do, places we go, family and friends we spend time with.  What can you remember?  What are the strongest memories you have?  How can you build future memories now?  What do you want to do, to remember?  That’s what you should spend your time on now.  Today.  Make it happen.  How do you want to be remembered?  What memories do you want others to have of you?

I want my novels to be memorable and want people to find them easy reading, quick to get through.  Something you’d pick up and read in a few days.  Or if you read like I do, a day.

When I’ve talked about the theme of ‘bags’ some friends have looked at me and I can see their memories bubbling to the surface, of what they have in their attic, what bags they have, what items are still in some of those bags then they vow to sort them out.  Maybe I’ve created a new title for ‘Bags’ ‘Millie’s Mother’s Memories’? What do you think?

Like Millie’s Mother’s Memories, I want people’s memory of me to be of a writer of a series of novels about normal family life with individuals you meet during a small part of their lives while they’re coping with news of family they didn’t know about; the death of their loved one or finding their dreams.

My AtoZchallenge posts are about writing, parts of my novels or some research I need to do for them.  I’m not allowing myself to write about anything other than topics linked to the books, my books.  The current titles that I’m writing about are ‘Bags’, ‘Holiday stories’ and ‘Dream Gardener’.
