Huge thanks to Lee and all the co-hosts who made AtoZ possible and kept us going. We couldn’t have had such a great month without you all.
Meant to have all my AtoZ posts pre-done, didn’t. Instead they were done a week at a time which worked for me this year. What I thought was my theme wasn’t, that’s life. I learnt lots about lots and lots about myself and my writing. I also learnt that perfect doesn’t mean great and although my sketches are by no means perfect they are, to me, great, they generated lots of interest and led me to some unexpected places, directions and gave a new outlook on what I might do next..
Along the way I kept the birds in the garden fed, watered and bathed.. not so sure about myself.. Grew seedlings and started the gardening. Took a holiday and spent lots of time with friends. The snake’s head fritillaries came and went and as the sun arrived so did the cherry blossom which helped with the challenge.
Many thanks if you’ve read this or any bit of my AtoZchallenge. I hope you’ve enjoyed it and maybe I’ve given you a bit of humour or given you something to think about. As usual, it’s the people we meet as we go through the challenge who add the most to our experience, this time I’ve come out the other end with yet more fabulous writing mates, a new challenge #15kinmay and more energy and enthusiasm to continue editing. My novels will get ‘finished’!
Cheers m’dears and here’s to a blissfull year before the next one.. No, that doesn’t mean.. even if there’s another next year.
I so enjoyed A to Z-ing! Glad I found you. Loved your sketches:)) I feel inspired to add sketches to the book I’m working on.
Thanks! If I’d realised the reflections list was already open I’d have added a few sketches on here too. Gave in and put some pics on instead.. sketches are just that, sketches. People seem to like them though it would have been easy to think they weren’t good enough to add.
Good luck with your book, I’ve decided to do a few for my novels too!
Lovely to have met you xx
Love your reflection post, and I enjoyed your sketches too. It was a very different A to Z experience. Thank you.
Thanks Maria. Different.. hmm.. yes that sums up me and everything I do!
That’s a great post. I really enoy your blogging, and I’m glad the blackbirds and fritillaries were (and hopefully the blackbird is) looking good. I started a new challenge too – Flash Fiction Fridays. I think there’s more than one running though.
many thanks for such kind words. The blackbird seems to love a fresh bath in that little clear container! What’s even more hilarious is that I fill it up with fresh water for her daily! My new challenge is #15kinmay.
Congrats on finishing the A to Z challenge, and good luck with 15kinmay! I’ve enjoyed reading your posts, and getting to know you.
Thanks Rinelle. It makes it all the more worth doing when people enjoy reading what you write doesn’t it. Good luck in the 15khouse too!
We made it through, Lynne! Another year down. Love your A to Z reflections poem–that pretty much sums up April for me too.
What a lovely reflections post. I love all the images of gardening and growth, and oh my goodness when I reached the bit about “snake’s head fritillaries,” my heart skipped a beat. What a delicious name! I sat there and read the phrase four or fives, both in my head and aloud. You know, the lexicon of animal and plant biology is a wondrous thing, isn’t it? Maybe I need to take up gardening.
Thank you Kern.
These posts just appear from nowhere sometimes don’t they and this one was one of those..
Fab name I agree! Wondrous, I agree too! I have a slightly wild and off-beat approach to gardening which others love but accept they couldn’t do.. My neighbour said I could easily get lost in my garden and they’d never find me.. we’re talking about a very narrow terraced house garden close to town yet some years I would agree with him..
Take up gardening then we can talk about that too!
How have you been going since the challenge?
I’ve nominated you for the ‘I am part of the WordPress Family Award, so if you get a chance, come over and check it out.
ooh! huge thanks Rinelle. I will! I’ve realised the sketches I did here are well liked so have carried on sketching. I now have almost as many A-Z theme ideas as A-Z and am using that to do more sketches.. It’s a great way for me to get ideas to sketch and I’m loving it. Yes I could do with doing another blog now that we’re past April but I had to prepare for Open studios.
