choices and priorities

Morning! I’ve not got long so this is rather a rushed post but it’s been in my head for the past week.. What choices are you making? Right now. Reading this or writing your own blog? Reading this or watering the garden? Reading this or feeding the birds? Reading this or getting ready for work? Reading this or reading to your children?

Don’t get me wrong.. I’m very glad you’re reading this or I wouldn’t have written it if I didn’t want people to read it.. Or would I? That’s a mistake many non writers make. I don’t write this so you can read it, I wrote this because I need to get it out of my head, to give me space for other ideas to ferment and generate, particularly my latest novel that I’m struggling to find the brain space for. If people read this page and get anything from it it’s a bonus and a very happy one at that.

I make tons of choices all of the time partly because I have so many hobbies and luckily because I have so many friends, but also because I have all of the household duties to do or not. For me, choices and priorities over the past few weeks have been around writing my latest novel, keeping enough bird food in stock while they’re all busy feeding lots of extra mouths, hanging my washing inside because of the nesting robins, re-potting my grown from seed plants if I want to enjoy any hand picked tomatoes and peppers from my garden this summer and spending time with friends and family. Ooh, not forgetting catching the latest shadows of flowers from my garden for new paintings.

Huge thanks for popping by and choosing to read this!
We all make choices every day.
What other choices will you make today?

  1. Ah, great post. You call them choices… I call them conflicting priorities! LOL. I try to do a little bit of everything. I make list and time-bracket and try to fit in a few minutes of each as best I can. πŸ™‚ Liked your choice to write this post though, thank you!

    • Thanks Nicky! Sooo gutted not to meet at the weekend.. I chose wimbles.. how could I πŸ˜‰ You chose sunday.. how could you? πŸ˜‰ I’m thinking l’ll choose to have a day in your local town so we can meet over coffee and watch the world go by…. research needed for our novels of course..

  2. You’ve nailed the problem that I face constantly. I set priorities. I make lists, but then things beyond my control change. So I make the choice to do something else– and out goes the list! One step forward, two steps back, eh?

[I found your blog via Triberr. I’m new to the system, but it seems like fun.]

    • Sounds like your lists and priorities don’t include time for ‘the something elses’. πŸ˜‰ I’m also wondering how long these lists and setting of priorities take you and if you could choose to do something instead?
Yes Triberr’s a good place to find like minded blogging souls. Good to meet you.

  3. I agree with Nicky! I feel like everything is a priority; it’s just a matter of hitting them all. I must say, though, I’m jealous of your garden! When we bought our house, I wanted nothing more than a garden and fresh veggies…but we have deer. And rabbits. And nothing of the veg variety stands a chance, lol!

    • Hi Heather, Can I say one word? Please choose to ‘breathe’. (oops.. 4 words). Sounds like you’re on an assault course.. Why do you need to hit everything? tee hee πŸ˜‰
Don’t be jealous of my garden.. I don’t choose to spend enough time in it for anyone to be jealous of but, perhaps, if it were yours it would be rather different!

      • If it were mine, it would be full of half eaten tulips, lol. I’ve been researching “deck gardening,” that is, smaller, raised containers away from the prying mouths of local wildlife.
