Being bold can be stepping up or it could be being a bit in your face.
I’m a big star trek fan so boldly going is important..
Bold. How can you show not tell it in your characterisations. Stepping forward, taking the challenge, confident. If you’ve not blogged before and are doing this you’re bold if you ask me. Maybe bold is in the eye of the beholder? I rarely feel bold but others might see me as such.
Show don’t tell.
He was bold.

Driving up to her house she recognised his car in her drive, the boxes on the front porch looked like he was moving in which was a surprise since they’d only just met. (oops.. the sketch doesn’t include his car..)
ps decided to keep this post short.. needed words for c.. so happy to keep the post short. What’s with my obsession for word count? I like my posts to be around 250 words as I think that’s as much as most people want to read of my ramblings..
Lynne’s AtoZ blogging challenge theme in case you couldn’t tell:
Linked to thoughts of emotions and behaviours, my theme is ‘I feel….’. Writers among you will be familiar with the phrase show don’t tell, for others it’s what every novelist tries to do. Authors want to show you the emotion and behaviour without telling you it. Trying to practice showing not telling, I have included an example in each post. I may have got it right, I may not have. Please let me know.
Here’s who else is doing the AtoZblogging challenge.
Yeah the guy is bold but he’s also creepy. I’d run screaming if someone showed up and started moving in.
KC @ The Occasional Adventures of a Hermit
Yeah I completely agree. They just come out quick and I don’t edit them. A bit like my novels.. One day I’ll finish editing one. Thanks for popping by.
Nice way to add a drawing to illustrate your point about being bold enough to show rather than tell. It’s still April 1st where I am on the East Coast, in the United States, so I came here looking for the “A” post and was surprised to be one step ahead of the curve on being among the first people to read your “B” post. Sweet! Coincidentally enough, my topic for tomorrow is about Bravery and what that means from an independent filmmaking point of view.
Thanks for participating in the challenge. Here’s looking forward to your next posts as we move through the alphabet this month!

Thanks for popping by Nicole.
I lost a lot of views yesterday when people popped by and my post wasn’t up because I hadn’t published at my usual time of 00.01. I forgot to change it from draft to publish, doh! The rest should all be up at 00:01 GMT.
I’ll look out for your Bravery later today.
That was a good example of “show”. I agree on brevity being necessary to keep readers – it’s not always possible, depending on what you have to say, but editing can do wonders to cut the “unnecessaries”.
Thanks Sammy.
A very nice post in my morning in box!
Thanks Charlotte
At least I got the scheduling sorted out from now on and the first week’s all scheduled so I can take a wander around to see what everyone else is up to. Got to head to work first though! Will pop by your AtoZ later.
Good theme for your A-Z I always love your sketches. I’m not doing it this year.
Thanks. I did wonder if I should do it or not but now we’re underway I’m very pleased I did.
Show don’t tell is indeed a very important idea. I’m a huge Trekkie too – really started with Next Gen and have never looked back. 🙂

next gen; deep space nine; enterprise.. love em all.. and Babylon 5 and a few others I’ve forgotten! thanks for popping by.
Great post! You did a nice job showing what it means to be bold . . . and also stalkerish. haha
Thanks Chrys
Stalkish just seemed to emerge from nowhere..
Bold is always good – unless you’re talking hot peppers then I lean towards meek.
Me too with the peppers. Like Jalepeno.
Terrific post. Love how you entwined show don’t tell and I think bold might be a matter of opinion. 🙂
Decadent Kane (blog)
Thanks. Every one will have a show don’t tell hopefully.
I like your choice of theme! I feel rather bold today myself.

Thanks Deborah. Bold’s good if it challenges you in a positive way. Thanks for stopping by.
He’s a little too bold, I think. As a reader, I appreciate authors who show rather than tell.
Yes, I agree he is and I’ve been wondering how I’d react to that. Depends who it was probably!
I’m not sure that guy is bold as opposed to overzealous!

Ooh can I copy and paste to O then? Checked and I’ve not written O yet. got a few words.. Overwhelmed being one..
I like it. Having everything to hand and ready to move in is a classy description of the scene.
Hmm.. most have thought the man a bit too forward.. I think if you know it’s right then get on with it life’s too short though that comes from someone who’s got scared, avoided and run from what I wanted too often.
Love the sketch… and the frightening little story, haha!

Thanks! Not sure where the story came from. Definitely not from personal experience..
