I know.. There was a day when a giant rabbit and it’s carrot decided to take a look at what I was sketching. Whilst I was unable to get the rabbit into my picture I did manage to capture it’s carrot quickly as the giant rabbit hopped away.
Some of you who know more about football than me will be aware that Peterborough’s football team has a giant rabbit as their mascot and one day their path around town and mine collided. Whilst it was a giant carrot it’s not immediately obvious in the sketch.
Ok, that explains the carrot now what about the chickens. I love sketching chickens and am hoping, one day, for there to be a bench next to the chickens in Peterborough at the Green Back Yard. For now I take my portable chair and enjoy nothing more than watching them and sketching them or an amalgam of them as they’re not brilliant at posing.
I would have liked my C to be about the Cathedral and to show you some sketches I’ve done of it. The thing is that for some strange reason which I don’t understand, there are very few benches you can see the cathedral from which seems very odd to me given the number of benches Peterborough has. There are a few in the cloisters but most of those aren’t facing the cathedral. A couple of the benches in Cathedral square have ends where you can sit and face the cathedral but they’re not as comfortable to sit on and I’ve not yet sat and drawn from there. I might do one of those for my hundredth and post it later or I might not.. For now, here’s another chicken.
That’s what I love about AtoZ and sketching. We go with the flow and never know what’s coming next. Like today, I could have headed towards Cathedrals, Cats or Crayons or, I guess, numerous other directions. I wonder what your C’s are today.
My AtoZ Blogging Challenge is all about sketches I’ve done this past year and some benches I’ve met along the way. Most but not all of the sketches were done from benches during my walk to work and around town where I shop. Todays chickens were sketched on location.
