E is for Edith #AtoZchallenge

E’s linked to Peterborough Cathedral: Easter; East; Effigies; Energy; Ethelwold; Edith Cavell; East; Eagle and Ethelfreda.

During the Heritage festival and at other times you can meet characters from the Cathedral History. I sketched Edith who’s story is remembered here since she was a pupil teacher within the grounds. Bizarrely Katharine of Aragon and her maid and a parachuting monk teddy bear were also in the picture that day. Such is the daily life of this amazing place.

D is for Doors #AtoZchallenge

In case you’re wondering these illustrations are pencil drawn quickly then a quick splash of watercolour using a very broad brush so I can’t get into detail then finished off with a black marker pen. After that I try to take a photograph in sunlight. there’s not been too much sunlight around recently other than this morning and the wind was causing havoc with the sketch pad.
