S’s linked to Peterborough Cathedral: sexton; Scotland; spire; Saxwulf; Sanctuary; Sacristy; Spiritual; Sun; Service; Simon Magus; Soldiers; Singing; Scarlett; School; St’s; stained glass and spiral staircases.
I popped into the cathedral wondering what S would be and the visiting choir was practicing. I created this while they were singing.
Peterborough, UK, is celebrating 900 years of the current Peterborough Cathedral building which is my 2018 A-Z theme. Rather than give you lots of information which you can get from the website, books or by visiting and having a wonderful guided tour I’ve provided a list of topics and an illustration of one of them.

Hello, fellow A-to-Zer! Also, wow! What a good idea, to do a drawing of the same place every day, with a different focus. Also? Your drawing is really expressive. Great idea! Great sketch! What technique did you use? Pencil sketch, then pen and… marker? Watercolor? Both?
Thanks for popping by and such lovely comments Atherton.
Quick pencil drawing, then Water colour and finally permanent marker pen.
You can practically hear them singing while the other visitors listen intently. Weekends In Maine
Thanks. As usual the pencil sketch was done very quickly so I’m glad I’ve managed to capture the sound through the drawing.
That’s lovely 🙂
thanks Jemima. Great to see you here again. I’m slowly managing to visit others. Hope you’re having a good one. We’re nearly there.
I love a church choir. Although not a regular church goer I do enjoy the choir in the cathedrals and adds to the atmosphere. I’m loving your theme and idea.
Thanks Sue. Since it’s 900 it was an easy choice of theme.
